Show HN: I built a web app where you can see what tools indiehackers are using (ramen.tools)

Hi everyone!

We all agree that the dev stack to build a project does not matter that much, it's usually best to build with the tools we already know and feel comfortable with.

But when it comes to payment tools, design, email marketing, SEO, hosting, there's a lot we can learn by seeing what others are using.

I built RamenTools for this purpose, and you can already see what tools are being used by 120+ indiehackers. RamenTools can also recommend you what tools to use with a specific tool, based on other makers' usage.

Whether you are an indie maker, designer, marketer or any type of digital creator, feel free to create your dashboard and share what tools you use.

I apologize in advance that you can only sign up with X/Twitter, since it's been a project shared only within Twitter Tech circles until now. I surely will add other ways to sign up if there is a demand for it, following your requests.

I hope you'll enjoy using the website, you may find there an indiehacker you know or a tool you're curious about.

Cheers!

Isn't it better to speak for yourself?

You're right. It's just that I heard this often. Let's remove this sentence. My point was actually that RamenTools is not only for dev stack but also for design tools, marketing tools, etc.

Nice! How would you say this differs from Wappalyzer, Builtwith, StackShare or similar tools?

Thank you for your reply, that's very interesting! I actually built RamenTools in two weeks and did not do any research at all about similar tools, and never heard about these 3 websites.

Stackshare seems the most similar since it is also community based. Those websites seem mostly focused on dev tools.

I want more than just tech stacks and what it is built with. I want the tools to market and monetize, productivity tools, fun tools, etc. And I want it to be like a directory of indie makers and digital creators with a link in bio.

Gotcha. I think the indie community could find it fun and useful - reminds me of a single spot that aggregates those occasional HN posts: "what are you using to build your 1-person startup, hobby, side project?"

However, if you're planning on monetizing: the competition is fierce. The industry is called Technographics. For example, Wappalyzer can segment millions of companies using thousands of tools (here's their list: https://www.wappalyzer.com/technologies/). You'll see 40 A/B testing tools, 104 Live Chat tools, 63 Issue Trackers. It's intense.

Edit: I just saw Twelve.Tools. Even though you didn't know the websites I mentioned, it's clear you DEFINITELY know technographics! Great site.

Thank you for all these insights!

I did not know the term Technographics, TwelveTools is just a minimalist directory of tools, but indeed it categorizes tools too.

I think RamenTools won't compete in this industry, it's more taking the way of makers and products than technologies. It may not make millions but it's gonna be a fun project. :)

Using it. Very informative tool!

Thank you Roberto! Nice set of tools you are using!

Who builds a tool dependent/requires a xitter account in 2024?

nty.

Well, my audience is mostly there. Indiehackers often share on X what they build and the tools they use. It also avoids someone taking someone else's identity.
